When is the last time someone told you that they loved you? When is the last time you told someone you loved them? When we talk about love, it's often in romantic context, but that's not always the case.

What is love?

Be honest, did you start singing the song? I did! The ancient Greeks actually studied love and gave each type a name.

Philia is love without the romantic attraction. It occurs when people share the same values and respect each other.

Pragma is a unique, bonded love that develops overtime. Rather than "falling in love" you are "standing in love" with a partner. Think of this person as your "soulmate." Dedication and commitment are required for this type of love.

Storge is built upon acceptance and deep emotional connection. This love is naturally rooted in parents and children, as well as best friends.

Eros is all about passionate, romantic love. This love is a desire for the physical body.

Ludas is all about flirting. This love is filled with laughter and playfulness.

Mania is obsessive love, which leads to jealousy, possessiveness, and codependency. This often happens when love is unbalanced between partners.

Philautia is a form of love where you recognize your self-worth and don't ignore your personal needs. It's about acknowledging your responsibility to your well-being.

Agape is the ultimate love to offer. It is the decision to spread love under any circumstance without the expectation of receiving anything in return.

Are you ready for love?

You are worthy of giving and receiving love. You are full of love. Spread that love around and don't be afraid to receive the love that is right for you.
